What is Match Day?

Match Day (June 1) is an exciting opportunity for incoming students to receive their room assignment and roommate information ahead of time. Picture this: while your peers are anxiously waiting, you’ll already know where you’ll be living and who you’ll be living with on campus!

Step 2: Complete Your Housing Form

Once you’ve submitted your deposit, you’ll gain access to your housing form. Be thoughtful and accurate when sharing your sleep schedule, study habits, cleanliness preferences, and lifestyle. This information helps the Residence Life team connect you with a compatible roommate and environment.

Step 3: Connect with Potential Roommates

Beginning April 1, deposited students can use My College Roomie to connect with potential roommates based on shared preferences and interests. You can message students, explore profiles, and request a roommate match.

From traditional residence halls to lakefront living, explore the spaces you’ll call home. Your housing preferences, selected in your form, help guide your placement.

BE REAL ABOUT YOUR HABITS

It’s tempting to describe your ideal self—early mornings, perfectly clean, always focused—but your roommate will live with your actual habits. Be honest about your sleep schedule, study style, and social preferences. The more accurate you are, the better your match will be.

TAKE INITIATIVE WITH MATCHING

Once you gain access to My College Roomie, don’t just browse. Start conversations, ask questions, and look for shared expectations around daily life. The best matches come from students who actively engage, not those who wait to be matched.

LOOK BEYOND COMMON INTERESTS

Having the same major or liking the same music is great but it’s not what makes a roommate relationship work. Focus on compatibility in: sleep schedules, cleanliness, study habits, and social boundaries. That’s what creates a comfortable living environment.
